Poetry can be a real pleasure to read. And of course, it’s a real pleasure to write, even if it’s the most self-indulgent, adolescent nonsense. It’s also a joy to steal from.
I can’t remember now which poet said this: but if you’re ever low on creative energy, when the battery is really beginning to lose its power, what do you do? Plug in. Pick up a power pack. Open some verse, recharge yourself, and come as close to plagiarism as you dare.
