Steel

Even as the heart begs to forget,

Cold lips will take their chance enticingly.

Though once our duel played out its equal threat,

In that one night he placed the risk with me:

He glanced my way. So even as I now

Speak out his name, it stains my tongue like liquor.

The cold steel of his kiss rests in my mouth,

And as I spit it out, he pulls the trigger.
