As sapphire cools as crystal in the sky
I trace its form;
When colour drifts with peace, and so behaves
With peace devout;
The distant, fractal lights of our July,
Which graced us warm,
As sunset layers its life on drawing waves
And ripples out.
Although any peaceful coast could do, chiefly when writing this I thought of Botany Bay in Kent: search it, if you have never been. It is surreally, eerily beautiful. I have many very happy childhood memories of the place, none of which justify this rather desolate verse.
