The Roll of Green

Caught by a wave

A roll of green

Heaven’s mercy

Shades serene

Dappled lingers

Sometime sways

Of leafy fingers

And roll the waves:

The waves, the rolling waves, the roll of green.

Through lifelong moments

Of motion grass,

Widest emotions

Overhead pass

Like timeless clouds

You’ve never seen

We form lost thoughts around

The rolling, the rolling waves, the rolls of green.

These are actually song lyrics I wrote on one of the more recent sunny afternoons we’ve been relishing. Based loosely on the rhythm of Franklin’s Tower and REM’s amazing Perfect Circle. Mostly inspired by cider.
